John joined Shorepoint Capital Partners as a Senior Portfolio Manager in 2018. He is the firm’s senior equity analyst and assists the CIO in management of the Capital Appreciation and Dividend Growth equity investment strategies. He also researches and performs due diligence on outside fund managers used in client accounts.
Professional Experience and Education
John came to us after 15 years at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, where he oversaw over $2 billion in institutional client assets within the asset allocation group. He had also acted as senior portfolio manager for Columbia’s $1.1B Small- Cap Value I portfolio.
John began his career as an economist with the U.S. Department of Labor. He moved to Fidelity Management & Research Company as an international equity and sector research analyst, and later joined Gannett, Welsh & Kotler as a senior equity analyst.
John is a CFA charter holder and member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society.
He earned his MBA from the Carroll Graduate School of Management at Boston College, and his B.S. from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
John lives in Needham, MA, with his wife, Amy, and their five children. He enjoys coaching youth sports and spending time with his children and family. He is an avid runner— and 2018 marked his 25th consecutive run of the Boston Marathon.
